Five Technology Podcasts That Keep Us Informed and Inspired
Technology is ever changing and evolving. It can sometimes be difficult to keep up with the latest news and trends. As a web developer, my field is constantly changing so having a few key up-to-the-minute resources makes it a little easier to keep up to date. Podcasts are a great way to learn new things and keep up with the current tech news. While there are many, many awesome tech podcasts, these are a few which make me happy whenever I see there is a new episode in my feed.
Grumpy Old Geeks
The Grumpy Old Geeks is hosted by Jason DeFillippo and Brian Schulmeister, with several contributors joining them for different segments of the show. They discuss general tech news once a week for an hour or two. They cover a wide range of topics, which makes this a good pod even for those who aren’t web developers.

Syntax
Syntax is a web development podcast hosted by Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski. I had used some of Wes Bos’ javascript videos (which are great!) and stumbled upon this podcast that he is a co-host of. I believe Scott Tolinski also teaches courses, so both of them are very good at explaining concepts in a way many people can understand on their podcast. They have many technical episodes, but also have some that cover more general web topics.

Second Career Devs
Second Career Devs is a newer podcast with only a few episodes up so far, but I’ve really enjoyed every one of them. Hosted by Kyle Shevlin, the podcast explores the careers of software engineers who have moved into development after previously having a different career.

ShopTalk
ShopTalk is hosted by Dave Rupert and Chris Coyier. Focused primarily on web development, the show generally consists of two formats: either the hosts answering questions from listeners or the hosts interviewing a guest. Both formats are enjoyable and I feel like I learn a lot from this show.

Front End Happy Hour
Front End Happy Hour is hosted by engineers from companies such as Netflix, Evernote, LinkedIn and more. There is a rotating panel of contributors including Ryan Burgess, Brian Holt, Stacy London, Augustus Yuan, Jem Young, and Mars Jullian who discuss a different tech topic each week. They also have a keyword that has to do with the topic and whenever one of the panelists says that keyword, the panelists all take a drink. It definitely makes it an interesting discussion! Out of all the tech podcasts I listen to, Front End Happy Hour is my favorite, because the panel is well-spoken, relatable, funny and super knowledgeable.
